Meet the Instructor - Dean

In the first of our 'Meet the Instructor' blog series, we would like to introduce you to the newest member of our team, Dean Cann.

We're lucky to have Dean on our team, as he has the perfect mix of calmness, politeness, determination, experience and skills that are ideal for driving instructors.

Dean joined our franchise in January, 2026.

"Before starting my training as a driving instructor, I worked in a team leader role where I spent years supporting and training others - experience that strongly shapes how I teach today." So, Dean has relevant experience within the training industry, which is an excellent asset to help his pupils develop into safe, competent drivers, whilst teaching in a clear and methodical way.

But that's not where Dean's skills stop. Dean continues, "Outside of work, I'm a husband and dad of two. My son, who is 13, has ADHD and ASD, and my daughter, aged 9, is currently going through the assessment process."

With Dean's personal experience in ADHD and ASD, he will be fantastic at supporting those with similar needs, as he will expertly tailor his teaching to suit the needs of the learner, whilst having an excellent understanding of the needs of the pupil.

"Being a parent in a neurodiverse household has given me a deep understanding of how differently each individual learns, processes information, and builds confidence. It's taught me the value of patience, clear communication, structure, and adapting explanations to suit the individual - skills I bring to every lesson."

With all these skills and more, Dean will offer learners manual driving lessons in Great Yarmouth, Caister, Acle, Hemsby, Gorleston, North Lowestoft, and all the surrounding areas. Dean provides calm, supportive lessons and is fantastic at helping those who may feel nervous or need extra reassurance, with clear, step-by-step teaching methods.

"My aim is to help learners feel safe, understood, and confident behind the wheel - learning at a pace that works for them, not against them."
