Terms and Conditions (Driving Lessons)

​These terms and conditions apply to the business (Day Tripper Driving Tuition) and the customer (you). 

 

1. Your Driving License

1a. You must hold a valid driving license that entitles you to drive a category B motor vehicle on public roads within the United Kingdom, which must be produced at the request of Day Tripper Driving Tuition, or any of its employees, to ensure all relevant legislation is adhered to. 

1b. If an older paper licence is held, then you must also produce valid photographic identification, such as a passport or nationally recognised identification documentation. 

1c. Should your entitlement to drive change, through disqualification, medical, or any other reason(s), you must notify Day Tripper Driving Tuition as soon as practicable, but always at least 48-hours prior to your next scheduled booking. Failure to do so will cause the booking to be cancelled, and the fee will be forfeited in full. 


2. Motorway, Pass Plus, or Refresher Tuition

2a. For any tuition within the aforementioned areas in paragraph ‘2’, you must produce a full UK driving license prior to, or at the start of, your first booking. 


3. Eyesight and Medical Requirements

3a. You must meet the minimum eye test requirements, which are currently set at 20.5 metres (67 feet), at which you must be able to read a standard UK-approved number plate. 

3b. Any required eyesight correction needed to meet the minimum eye test requirements, such as glasses or contact lenses, must be worn at all times during your driving lessons. 

3c. Should you currently be using any form of medication, it is your responsibility to ensure it does not affect your ability to drive a motor vehicle. Should they do so, you must contact Day Tripper Driving Tuition as soon as practicable, but always at least 48-hours prior to your next scheduled booking. 

3d. Should you be under the influence of any medication(s) and/or substances (including alcohol) that adversely affect your ability to drive a motor vehicle safely, your lessons will be forfeited until you have sought medical guidance (where applicable). Any booked lessons within the following 48-hour period will also be subject to the full fee being forfeited. 

3e. Should concerns arise regarding your fitness to drive, Day Tripper Driving School shall notify the Driving and Vehicle Licensing Agency (DVLA). 


4. Payments and Cancellations

4a. For new customers, the first booking must be paid in full, at the time of the booking. 

4b. All subsequent bookings must be paid for in full, not less than 48-hours prior to the start time of the next booking, irrelevant of the payment method used.

4c. Payments can be made via the Total Drive app, bank transfer, or cash only. 

4d. Late payment may cause the forfeiture of the booking if Day Tripper Driving Tuition has an opportunity to fill the relevant slot. 

4e. All cancellations must be made as soon as practicable, with no less than 48-hours notice, prior to the start time of your next booking.

4f. Cancellations should be made via phone call or text message/WhatsApp only, to ensure receipt of the cancellation by your instructor. Social Media contact is not accepted for cancellations. 

4g. Failure to provide 48-hours (or more) notice of any cancellation(s) will cause the forfeiture of the fee in full. 

4h. Should you cancel three bookings or fail to arrange a booking for three weeks consecutively, your place within the instructor's diary shall be forfeited, and you will be required to wait until a further opportunity to return you into the diary arises. 

4i. Day Tripper Driving Tuition reserves the right to adjust any fees, or the structuring of fees, associated with its tuition services without prior notice, but will always endeavour to notify you as soon as practicable. 

4j. Any block booking made in advance (5 or more hours) must be paid for in full at the time of booking. This includes any semi-intensive or intensive courses. 

4k. If, for any reason, a refund is provided on any block-booking payment, the hours used will be charged at the standard hourly rate, not the discounted rate. 

4l. Should you pre-pay for lessons, and subsequently stop your lessons, your pre-payment will be valid for 28 days from the date the payment was received. After this period, the pre-payment shall be forfeited. 

4m. Any semi-intensive or intensive courses which are paid for in advance will have a 14-day cooling off period, whereby it can be cancelled with a full refund provided. After this period, the course will become non; refundable.


5. Lessons

5a. Your instructor will endeavour to always arrive on time. Should there be a possibility of a late arrival, your instructor will notify you via phone call or text message/WhatsApp as soon as practicable. 

5b. Once arrived, your instructor will wait for 10 minutes after the pre-arranged start time or the time arrival (if later). Failure to contact the instructor or arrive at the tuition vehicle within that period will cause the cancellation of the booking, and the fee will be forfeited in full.  

5c. You are expected to adhere to all relevant legislation in the course of your tuition. Any legal action which is caused because of your actions will result in your details being forwarded to the relevant agencies. 

5d. Should you put yourself, your instructor, the public, or any property at risk of harm or damage due to not adhering to the instructions of your instructor, you will be responsible for any damage or financial repercussions. 

5e. Lessons may be cancelled and/or rescheduled by Day Tripper Driving Tuition because of unforeseen circumstances. These may include, but are not exclusive to, mechanical failure of the tuition vehicle, adverse weather, personal injury or illness which will affect the safe level of tuition required, or any act of God. 

5f. Lessons will begin and finish at your home address, unless otherwise pre-arranged with your instructor. This is at the discretion of your instructor, as to not interfere with other scheduled appointments of the day. 


6. Driving Tests

6a. Day Tripper Driving Tuition will adhere to the DVLAs expectation to present candidates to test who are safe, competent, and can drive to the standards required to pass the practical driving test.

6b. Day Tripper Driving Tuition reserves the right to refuse the use of their tuition vehicle(s) if it is believed you do not meet the required standards to pass the practical driving test. This extends up to the time of the practical driving test start time. 

6c. Day Tripper Driving Tuition accepts no responsibility for any cancellations or adjustments made to your practical driving test booking by the DVLA, and any reimbursement claims must be completed by you via the DVLA. 


7. Complaints

7a. If you are not happy with the service provided to you by Day Tripper Driving Tuition, please contact us as soon as practicable with the full details of your dissatisfaction. 

7b. Day Tripper Driving Tuition will endeavour to resolve your concerns as soon as practicable after receipt of your concerns. We want your driving tuition to be a positive experience, and will rectify any issues to the best of our abilities.
